***** it's Kat Abughazaleh, and I'm an outspoken progressive running for Congress in Illinois. I hate to text you randomly, but Donald Trump's Department of "Justice" just indicted me for exercising my First Amendment rights near the Broadview ICE Detention Center.
Here's the truth: As I and others exercised our First Amendment rights, ICE has hit, dragged, thrown, shot with pepper balls, and teargassed hundreds of protesters, myself included. 
The Constitution guarantees the right to protest, but Donald Trump and his allies cannot handle criticism. They can't tolerate someone taking action to stand up for what they believe in. And they will go to every length imaginable to silence anyone they see as a threat.
I'm being indicted because the far right is scared. But they can't silence our grassroots movement.
I will not stop fighting for what we all believe in - including mounting a robust legal defense to ensure that the Trump administration cannot use my case as an example to destroy our Constitution.
