As-salamu alaikum, ***** I'm Democrat Nida Allam, and today, I'm proud to announce my campaign for Congress in NC-4.
My parents and I immigrated here when I was just a child. They worked tirelessly and prioritized my sisters' and my public education. Even in the face of racism and hate, they stayed firm in their values to serve and cherish those around us.
I could not have become the first Muslim woman ever elected to office in NC without their sacrifices. But Trump, Stephen Miller, and the GOP are determined to inflame hate against our community, a hate that has real consequences I know far too well.
In 2015, my three friends Deah, Yusor, and Razan were murdered in a hate crime in Chapel Hill. They had dedicated their lives to serving communities at home and beyond. I was broken, but their parents, with incredible strength and love, asked us not to let their legacy die-to continue to remember the three of them and cherish them in our work.
I'm determined to carry on their legacy and stop MAGA from harming our community any further, but I need your help to stand up to the powerful forces that will try to defeat me.
