I'm Nida Allam, and I'm a mother of two, Durham County Commissioner, and the Bernie Sanders-endorsed Democrat running for NC's 4th Congressional District.
In 2015, my life changed forever when my friends were victims of gun violence, and murdered in their home in an anti-Muslim hate crime. 
I decided to channel my anger into action and began organizing, fighting for justice here in North Carolina. I went on to become a Durham County Commissioner, where I raised the minimum wage and provided refuge for immigrants in our community.
Now, I'm ready to take my work to Congress, and fight for an America where all of us belong, and where all of us can thrive, free of fear and violence.
