It's Eugene Vindman, texting to respectfully ask if you can make a $5 contribution to my campaign for Congress today as we kick off the general election.
I'm sorry to be so direct, but right now I need to be honest with you: I now have a Republican opponent who has spent the last several months proving his loyalty to Donald Trump and, in return, will be rewarded with millions from his MAGA mega-donors.
Now, we're falling critically behind where we expected to be at the start of the general election and we urgently need to make up this gap. 
I know times are tough right now. Trump's threatening our economy and making life more difficult for Americans at home and abroad.
But here's the thing: This is exactly what Trump wants.
He wants you to be worn out by the war and devastation.
And ultimately, he wants a political environment where people are too discouraged and afraid to fight back or speak out.
So right now - with his sham investigation into me already underway - he's counting on my grassroots team to give up on me and our movement so he can flip this seat red, hold onto the House majority, and stop me from holding him accountable in Congress.
But I refuse to let him succeed.
That's why I'm asking for your support to defeat Doug Ollivant and his MAGA machine. Because to win this race, it will take everyone fighting back against the millions from right-wing pacs that will flood into this race.
