***** it's Kat Abughazaleh, and I'm an outspoken progressive running for Congress in Illinois. I'm sorry for texting you out of the blue, but I just pleaded not guilty to Donald Trump's DOJ's charges against me for exercising my First Amendment rights at the Broadview ICE detention center.

ICE has hit, dragged, thrown, shot with pepper balls, and teargassed hundreds of protesters, including ME. The Constitution guarantees the right to protest, but Donald Trump and his allies cannot handle criticism. 

They can't tolerate someone standing up for what they believe in, who they would instead try to silence from speaking out. 

But I will keep standing up because ICE continues to harass our communities and detain our neighbors. We know this is wrong, and we need to use our constitutionally protected rights to stop it.
